How to Run a Live Photo Slideshow at a Wedding Reception
Put a fullscreen slideshow on the venue screen that updates itself during the event — your photos from Google Drive and guest phone photos, arriving live.
A slideshow at the reception used to mean exporting a video file in the afternoon and hoping nothing worth showing happened after 4pm. A live slideshow is different: it reads the gallery continuously, so photos you shot an hour ago — and photos guests upload from their phones — appear on the venue screen while the party is still going.
How does a live wedding slideshow work?
Every GalleryLink gallery on Pro has a live view at /live on the gallery's link. Open it on any laptop connected to the venue's TV or projector, press fullscreen, and it cycles through the gallery with slow crossfades. It checks for new photos every few seconds; anything new — from your Drive folder or from the guest wall — jumps to the front of the queue.
What you need at the venue
- Any screen with a browser — a laptop plugged into the TV/projector, or a smart TV's own browser. There's no app or cable box.
- The gallery link + /live. If the gallery has a password, enter it once; the screen stays unlocked for the evening.
- Wi-Fi. The slideshow streams from Google Drive and the guest wall, so a normal venue connection is plenty.
A same-day workflow that wows
- During cocktail hour, cull 30–50 frames from the ceremony and drop the JPEGs into the client's Drive folder.
- They appear on the venue screen within a minute — no export, no re-upload.
- Guests scan the table QR, add their own shots, and watch them land on the big screen seconds later.
Does it work for events other than weddings?
