GalleryLink vs Dropbox

Dropbox is a great place to keep files, and a shared link or a Dropbox Transfer gets photos to a client quickly. What the client receives, though, is a file list or a download, not a gallery, and the controls photographers want (passwords, link expiry, branding) start on Dropbox's team plans. GalleryLink is built for the delivery itself: a branded gallery from your Google Drive folder or from direct uploads.

The short answer

Use Dropbox for storing and moving files. Use GalleryLink when you want the client to see a gallery: themes, sections, favourites and full-resolution downloads, with passwords on Pro for $5 a month.

FAQ

Is Dropbox good for sending photos to clients?

It's reliable for moving files, but clients get a file list or a download rather than a gallery. Passwords, link expiry and branding need a Standard plan or higher. A client gallery like GalleryLink shows the photos properly and adds favourites and passwords for less.

Do Dropbox links stop working?

Dropbox Transfer links expire after 7 days on Basic and Plus. Shared links can also be paused for 24 hours if they go over the daily bandwidth limit, 20 GB a day on the free plan.

Can I use GalleryLink with photos in Dropbox?

GalleryLink links to Google Drive folders, or you can upload photos directly to a gallery. If your work lives in Dropbox, direct upload is the simplest route.
