Gallery storage cost calculator

Client gallery platforms charge by storage, so the bill depends on how many shoots you deliver, how big each gallery is and how long you keep them online. Enter those three numbers and this calculator picks the plan you would need on Pixieset, ShootProof and Pic-Time, and compares it with delivering from your own Google Drive through GalleryLink, using each company's October 2026 prices.

How big is a client gallery?

Most of the size comes from the finished JPEGs. Exported at full size from a modern camera, each one is usually somewhere between 5 and 20 MB, depending on resolution and export quality. A portrait session of 50 to 100 photos might be under 1 GB, an event a few GB, and a wedding of around 600 photos commonly lands in the 5 to 10 GB range. Video adds a lot more.

Why storage tiers add up

A storage-priced platform charges for everything you keep online, not just this month's work. If you deliver 25 weddings a year and never delete a gallery, the second year needs twice the space of the first. That is why a plan that looked cheap in year one quietly moves up a tier, and why the "how long" setting above changes the answer so much.

How to keep the cost down

  • Set an end date on galleries. Tell clients in your contract how long the gallery stays online and ask them to download their photos.
  • Deliver from storage you already have. If your edits already sync to Google Drive, GalleryLink shows that folder as a gallery, so you are not paying twice for the same photos.
  • Archive old work offline. Keep a copy on drives you own and take finished galleries offline once clients have downloaded them.

Common questions

How much storage does a wedding gallery need?
It depends on how many photos you deliver and how you export them. Finished JPEGs are usually somewhere around 5 to 20 MB each, so a wedding of about 600 photos tends to land in the 5 to 10 GB range, and more if you include video or full-size files from a high-resolution camera.
Why does my gallery bill keep going up?
Because galleries you keep online add up. Every shoot you deliver stays in your account until you delete or archive it, so after two or three years the storage you need is two or three times one year's work, and the plan you need moves up a tier.
Is Google Drive storage cheaper than a gallery platform?
Usually, per gigabyte. Google One's 2 TB plan is $9.99 a month in the US, while gallery platforms charge more for the same space because the price also covers their gallery, store and other features. Many photographers already pay for Google storage as a backup, in which case delivering from it adds nothing.
Does the calculator include print sales or commissions?
No. It compares storage cost only. Pixieset, ShootProof and Pic-Time sell prints through their galleries and some free plans take a commission on store sales. If print sales matter to you, weigh that alongside the numbers here.
Where do the prices come from?
From each company's own pricing page in October 2026, in US dollars. Prices change and differ by country, so check the pricing page before you switch.

Deliver from the Drive you already pay for

GalleryLink turns a Google Drive folder into a client gallery, so there is no second upload and no storage tier: Pro is $5 a month whether you deliver one wedding or a hundred. Make your first gallery free.
